What is a PVA Sponge?

Physical Properties of the PVA sponge. A PVA sponge is essentially composed of Polyvinyl Alcohol and is a synthetic sponge. It has a three-dimensional open cell structure that is similar to the natural sea sponge. All of the cells in it are interconnected and are not independent. The major advantages of its physical structure are its ability to be refused after cleaning, its high filtering efficiency, and its impressive retention and the wicking properties. The PVA sponge can absorb up to 12 times its dry weight water. When it is saturated with water, it becomes so soft like the natural sea sponge and flexible. The wet volume is 20% greater than the dry volume. The PVA sponge reveals mechanical strength and abrasion resistance equal to any other synthetic sponge. The size and the shape of the pores can vary to meet the specific applications. The wet sponge can stand temperatures up to 90 degrees C without deforming the plastic. The PVA in the raw form is pu...
